In Centre for Physical Measurement we inspect sources of ionizing radiation in industry
and medical institutions, measure radiation doses of workers in the workplace in the vicinity
of radiation sources and assess the doses to general population, primarily in the area of
facilities where radioactive materials appear or are stored. For this purpose we measure
samples of food, soil, fallout, water and sediment. Another important activity involves
education concerning radiation protection, hazards and training on methods of radiation
protection from the hazardous effects of radiation. We measure non-ionizing radiation of
low frequency electromagnetic (transformers and power lines) and high frequency
electromagnetic fields (mobile phone operator base stations, radio and television transmitters).
We also perform measurements and analysis of noise in the working and natural environment
or living environment as well as sound insulation in buildings and recommend soundproofing
measures and improvements in cases where the measured values exceed permissible limits.
